8 Best Work From Home Jobs Ideas

Published

on

You want to get out of the office, but you love your job and want to keep it. There’s no shame in wanting to make money without leaving your home, especially when so many jobs allow you to do just that! Work from home jobs exists for every skill set, from administrative work to art and design, regardless of your experience level or educational background. And if you have kids or other family members at home, you can use your work from home time as quality time with them too!

1) Take online surveys

Online surveys can be a great way to earn extra money. Ensure you stay safe by avoiding scams and checking out legitimate paid survey sites like MySurvey. When you get started, you’ll begin making somewhere around $3-$4 per survey (depending on how long it takes you, factors out of your control like disqualifications, etc.). You can cash these out for gift cards or other prizes. Some people even make enough to pay their bills. Survey sites have gotten a bad rap in recent years, and plenty of them are suspect, but they can be an excellent way to bring in some extra income if used correctly!

2) Participate in focus groups

It can be hard to find work as a remote worker when you’re just starting. One way to make things easier is to participate in focus groups. Focus groups pay $50-$150 for 60-90 minutes of your time, depending on your market and what site you sign up with. If it sounds easy, that’s because it is! You need to show up and share your thoughts on a particular product or business concept. From there, you can continue participating or move on to another one! No stress – great pay!

3) Transcribe voicemails

This job idea is an easy way to make extra money and requires zero computer skills. You’ll just have to listen to voicemails and type out what you hear. At one transcription company, TranscribeMe, you can earn $0.20 per minute of audio that you transcribe. While that doesn’t sound like much, it adds up over time. For example, if you earn $5 per hour on your first 50 minutes of work, you’ll be making $25 by your next hour. If you had 250 voicemails waiting for transcription at $0.20 each, that would earn you $6250 per month – not bad!

4) Write online content

The web is so full of content that it’s essential to think about your audience’s needs and then find a way to deliver them. Before pitching ideas to publications or creating posts for your website, ask yourself: Do I know my audience well enough? Will, what I write about to be helpful? Can anyone else write about my idea/do what I do? Writing online content might be an excellent job-from-home job idea if you can answer yes to all three questions. Of course, there are tons of other ways to make money from home if writing isn’t your strong suit—and many of them don’t require as much experience or expertise as other home jobs.

5) Test websites

One of the best work from home jobs involves testing websites for bugs and web design errors. By using a tool like BrowserStack, which connects to your computer through an app, you can remotely test websites from any browser without downloading and installing each one individually. You’ll get assignments sent straight to your inbox. You can log in to complete tests on everything from e-commerce platforms (like Shopify or Magento) to client login pages or other services requiring WebGL technology or AJAX coding abilities. Requirements vary among companies posting these types of jobs; most will offer software testing experience or bug reporting but not both.

6) Use your social media following

One of the best ways to make money from home is by using your social media following. It’s not as difficult as it sounds, and most likely, you will be working with companies you already follow on social media or are interested in. It’s a great way to make some side income while still being able to do what you love, which is usually following a specific brand or niche anyway. Examples include promoting brands on Twitter or Facebook, being paid per post (usually on Instagram), becoming a mystery shopper, or finding new products to review online. For example, I became a brand advocate for Dish Network when I first moved out of my parents’ house because I genuinely liked their services and trusted them more than other cable providers in my area.

7) Start a home business

8) Launch a blog

If you are interested in blogging as a work-from home job, it’s best to start a popular one. People are far more likely to pay attention if they already have an audience. If there’s a topic that you know people love to read about or search for online but haven’t found much of what they want yet, that can be an excellent place to begin your business idea. If you want some ideas, think of sites like The Huffington Post or Business Insider—but instead of reporting on companies and industries, focus your posts on certain occupations or topics. If there aren’t many blogs like yours right now, put yourself ahead of the trend and fill that need!
