Why Whitelist an Email Address?

First, you should know which email addresses you are trying to whitelist and why. This is because Gmail automatically sends untrusted emails to your spam folder, but sometimes it can be overzealous.

1) Look for the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Gmail client. Once you click on it, a quick settings menu will drop down. Click at the top of the menu where it says View All Settings.

2) From here, you’ll want to go to the header labeled Filters and Blocked Addresses. Below that, click Create New Filter.

3) In the From entry, type the email address you want to whitelist. You can add email addresses or domains to the whitelist. You can also add multiple email addresses if you separate them with commas (,). If you have contacts with custom email addresses using Gmail, you can whitelist them to ensure you receive their emails.

4) Once you click Create Filter, you’ll be given options to choose from your filter. Check the box that says Never send to spam.
